The UCLA-San Fernando Valley Psychiatry Training Program is a major training center for clinical and research programs. Multiple sites complement each other for a balanced clinical experience. Our program offers ample opportunities for residents to work in several different hospital systems (inpatient and outpatient) including Olive View Medical Center, West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, UCLA/NPI, Sepulveda VA Medical Center, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, California State University-Northridge Student Counseling Center, San Fernando Valley Community Clinic, among other. Electives are also offered at these and other institutions around Greater Los Angeles.

Residents get a vast outpatient experience starting PGY II including medication continuity clinics and psychotherapy clinics with intensive training in psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal and group psychotherapy.
This provides residents with a diverse case population and exposure to various hospital systems. These clinics and rotations are listed below.
Didactics
An eclectic didactic curriculum and a diverse faculty exposure supplement the clinical experience, resulting in a well rounded and solid foundation in the field. To optimize clinical knowledge, residents achieve individual and course supervision for each clinic and rotation. PGY II onwards, residents receive 4 hours/week of individual supervision in addition to 4-5 hours of dedicated weekly didactic seminars.
Abbreviations for training sites used below are described on thetraining site.
