The didactic curriculum is an essential part of the training program which reflects its overall philosophy. The residents are excused from their clinical duties during the scheduled courses to allow them to attend on a regular basis. Residents participate actively in the modification and design of the curriculum. All courses are reviewed at the annual curriculum meeting. Residents regularly evaluate all instructors and supervisors. The following reflects the class schedules for each year: PGY I
Start-up (levitation) Course - Introductory course during the first month of the PGY I year on the Inpatient Psychiatry Service at OVMC.
Core Didactics: This series of lectures is held on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from early July until mid-October. Lecture series include: Clinical Psychopharmacology Special Topics in Psychiatry Phenomenology & DSM IV Dynamic Theory Psychiatric Interviewing Forensics Biomedical Ethics PRITE Review
