This required three month outpatient rotation is completed at San Fernando Mental Health and along with the continuous outpatient clinical experience there provides the residents with the opportunity to provide continuity of care for their patients from the inpatient settings. The residents participate in weekly conferences, didactic presentations, and individual as well as group supervision. They learn to provide long term care for the seriously and chronically mentally ill population through the use of individual and group psychotherapy, behavior modification and rehabilitation, psychopharmacology, crisis intervention, assertiveness training, community treatment teams, family therapy, and patient education.
