Forensic Psychiatry

Forensic Psychiatry lectures throughout the training program focus on the current aspects of mental health laws, commitment procedures, patient rights, confidentiality, malpractice, and other areas pertinent to psychiatry and medicine.  When appropriate, housestaff are expected to accompany their patients to court proceedings and/or testify as part of these proceedings.

Additional Forensic Psychiatry experience is available through advanced electives such as moot courts, community legal clinics, and a mental health law course taught by a staff lawyer.
