The inpatient service is where the resident begins to develop his/her diagnostic and treatment acumen.  Case assignment is reviewed to assure a proper diagnostic exposure and breadth of experience.  Ward and individual supervision provide the structure for ongoing patient care as the resident gradually gains the clinical skills and knowledge to handle increasing patient care responsibility and a leadership role in a multidisciplinary environment.
