Applications:
Applications for PGY I positions at the UCLA-San Fernando Valley Psychiatry Training Program are accepted through the computerized application system, (ERAS).
Requirements in addition to ERAS include:
3 Letters of recommendation

A Personal Statement
Passing scores on USMLE Step 1, 2 and CS
The UCLA-San Fernando Valley Psychiatry Training Program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP number 103982) and is a member of the Association of Southern California Residency Training Programs.
Occasionally, PGY II positions are available for applicants to a three year program provided all California licensure requirements have been completed in the PGY I. Inquiries regarding PGY II positions should be made directly to the Education Office at the Sepulveda VA.

If you choose UCLA for your medical benefits, there are no co-payments on office visits and prescriptions are free of charge.
All residents receive a BruinCard which serves as your official University identification card/badge, permits access to facilities and special events, and can be used to purchase good and services throughout the University, Medical Center and Health System.

Leave & Vacation:
Vacation Policy: 4 weeks per year.
Sick Leave: 10 days per year.
Funds for Travel for Professional Meetings: The department makes every effort to underwrite expenses when a resident presents a paper at a national meeting. In addition, the Department encourages the involvement of residents in local and national psychiatric organizations and will support such activities as the budget allows.
Annual Retreat:
We welcome residents, faculty and other staff to the annual retreat and obtain a chance to mingle and discuss ways to enhance the residency program in a fun and interactive way.
UCLA Housing for Graduate Students and Students with Families: The UCLA Housing staff is available to answer questions and assist you with housing options, meal plans, budget counseling and payment information. Whether you are a single graduate student, married, or a single parent, chances are you’re looking for housing that offers independence, as well as access to a community of fellow students. With UCLA-owned University Apartments, you can have the best of both worlds. Vacation and educational leave total four weeks a year.
